Happy Easter, beautiful friends. I am not religious really, but right now I'm on a train and eavesdropping on some people at the next table-- strangers-- trying to help an older lady-- also a stranger to them!-- figure out what's going on with her emails. Everyone has laptops out and everyone is trying really hard. If I believe in anything, I believe in a world where people try their best to help strangers with small administrative tasks. The other day the man at the Post Office let me use his counter for ages to try and wrap a really tricky parcel (a puffer jacket for my grandma's birthday: have you ever tried to post a puffer jacket? There's so much...air!) and also the barista in the coffee shop came specifically to tell me that there was a better table free round the corner where the internet works. Small nicenesses. Please: tell me your own small observed nicenesses. The world is once again all bleak right now and so I like to remember that broadly speaking it is possible to see one person being nice to another person every day of your life if you just open your eyes.
